Do you hear that? It’s the sound of US Disney Parks fans cheering at the news that effective July 2021, fireworks shows are returning to Disneyland and Walt Disney World!
Fireworks are One More Step Back to “Normal” Disney
Today, Disney Parks announced on their blog and social media that as of July 1st, evening fireworks shows will be returning to the Magic Kingdom and Epcot at Walt Disney World. Fireworks return to Disneyland in California on July 4th.
There had been wild speculation as to when these signature shows would come back, fed only by an increasing number of late-night tests and technical rehearsals documented all over social media. And, that’s not to be confused with all the activity related to those floating barges at EPCOT World Showcase Lagoon, preparing for the brand new HarmoniUS show slated to premiere in Fall 2021.
Happily Ever After Returns
Disney confirmed that “Happily Ever After” – the show presented daily leading up to the March 2020 shutdown – will be returning to the Magic Kingdom. This production is a blend of fireworks and a full projection show on Cinderella’s Castle. There had been additional rumors about a new light show for the 50th Anniversary celebration. Different projections were seen on the castle just last week and new projectors are visible on 2nd floor windows on Main Street, USA. At EPCOT, the show “EPCOT Forever” will return until HamoniUS premieres – the date of which has yet to be announced.
At Disneyland in California, the show “Mickey’s Mix Magic” will be presented through the summer. State-of-the-art projections, show lighting and lasers transform Main Street, U.S.A., Sleeping Beauty Castle and the façade of “it’s a small world” paired with fireworks to celebrate the leader of the club, Mickey Mouse. These projections and lasers are what is to be expected for the WDW 50th Anniversary show (yet to be confirmed).
Wrapping Up the Magic
Guests of all ages will certainly be happy to hear this news (even if they don’t love the sound of loud fireworks)! It’s exciting to see Disney Parks begin to bring back all the various elements that make a trip so exciting. There’s still availability for parks at WDW on July 1st for all ticket types, so if you can’t wait to see the shows, be sure to book your Park Pass Reservation ASAP!
