Toy Story Midway Mania Tips And Tricks. Set A New High Score!

You guys know I’m a Disney nut, right?  I figured with the opening of Toy Story Land at Disney World I needed to get this video out.  Toy Story Midway Mania is my favorite ride at Disney World.  Heck, it’s my favorite amusement park ride, period.  The goal of the ride is to score as many points as possible in a series of games played in different rooms.  And, as you can imagine, there are some strategies, tips and tricks to run up the score!

Breaking Down Toy Story Midway Mania

Special thanks goes to our great friend (and adopted daughter, sister, cousin) Lauren.  Lauren not only helped shoot the video but also taught me the vast majority of tricks I’ve learned about Toy Story Midway Mania.

Here’s a breakdown of each room you’ll go through, courtesy of yours truly.  We recorded some videos that I haven’t gotten around to putting to better use.  Hope these help you drive up your score!

Because of the 3D glasses and screens that you wear in the ride, I don’t have pictures of each area.  But, I’ll try to give a brief description to match the video.  After your practice room you head to an area with a barn and some farm animals:

After playing on the farm, it’s time to crank up the score by popping as many balloons as you can.

Hopefully you’re doing great so far!  After balloons you get to deal with green army men and smash some plates for big points.

Using rings to trap aliens might seem odd somewhere else, but not on Toy Story Midway Mania.  Use the right strategy here and really bump up your score.

Your time to score points on Midway Mania draws to a close in two wild west themed areas.  After you complete the first room, you’ll actually have a chance to shoot some targets while your car is moving.  The final room is a place to max your point total if your arm hasn’t fallen off yet.

The Final Two Pennies

Toy Story Midway Mania is such a great ride.  The waits for it are brutal, even after adding a third track.  No ride is worth waiting more than an hour in line for, so make sure you grab a FastPass for this one if you can.  Take advantage of these tips and tricks to drive up your score!

I’ll be curious to hear what you guys think about the videos.  Hanging out on camera isn’t necessarily my first choice (I have a face meant for radio!) but it seemed like a fun short project while the kids were tooling around Hollywood Studios on a recent trip.

I’m also curious to hear what your high score is on Toy Story Midway Mania.  I’m not sure what mine is, but I’ve had a bunch of results in the high 200,000 area but I don’t think I’ve ever broken 300,000.

What’s your high score on Toy Story Midway Mania?
