Stars’ End! Disney has apparently been keeping some pretty cool stuff under wraps for Star Wars fans. In honor of May 4th Disney released some very special footage of a very special new feature coming in 2022:
The catch? It appears the only place you’ll be able to see this special lightsaber, at least at the outset, is on Halcyon, the Galactic Starcruiser. If you’re not sure what that is, buckle in (and you can read a whole lot about it). It’s a super immersive experience due to launch in 2022. We had hopes that we would see Halcyon launch in 2021 as part of the 50th anniversary kick-off. Alas, that’s not meant to be. But, Disney did provide a few more nuggets today:
You’ll Dine In The Crown of Corellia Dining Room
Disney released the first images of the main restaurant aboard Galactic Starcruiser. It appears this is where guests will eat all their meals, including “a lavish multi-course menu of both otherworldly and familiar origins.” Dinner will include a galactic superstar singing onstage.
You Get To Meet The Captain Of Halcyon
The entire experience aboard Galactic Starcruiser is meant to be unique, sort of a walking “choose your own adventure”. Along with the captain, you can make friends with a ship’s mechanic and that aforementioned galactic singing superstar. When you’re not hanging out in your room (and for the price you’re paying, you better not be) you can train in the ancient ways of the lightsaber. And, you’ll be able to take a special transport to Batuu.
Speaking of rooms, we do have a sneak peek into a phsyical room from a recent Disney exec visit.
You May Get “Transported” To Halcyon
Based on the description released today, it seems you’ll head to the Galactic Starcruiser terminal for boarding. From there, you’ll be transported to Halcyon. This actually makes some sense since there isn’t much parking at the hotel site. We thought that maybe it would be valet parking onsite, but best guess now is you park elsewhere or take an Uber to the terminal. Disney also announced that guests visiting Hollywood Studios can see a model of Halcyon at Walt Disney Presents.
Wrapping Up The Magic
Disney is absolutely right when they say Galactic Starcruiser is “storyliving”. It’s what Disney does best, and with the small number of rooms we’ll likely pay dearly for the experience. I don’t think our family will be first in line, but it’s pretty clear we’ll be in line at some point. Is Galactic Starcruiser on your mission list?
